Who we help

Freemasonry Cares offers guidance on the charitable support available to individuals who have:

i:   A Masonic connection

This includes:

  • All current and former Freemasons under the United Grand Lodge of England.

  • Dependants of a Freemason, former Freemason or deceased Freemason: wife, partner, widow, child.

A dependant is someone who the Freemason has the responsibility for looking after.  In most cases this will mean that the Freemason supports the person financially. It may also mean that they are the primary carer for the individual or have a similarly important role in their life.  Where the Freemason is deceased, the person may have been supported by the Freemason whlst they were alive or the person may be reliant on the Freemason's estate.

AND

ii: A real need

  • This means a need for financial, healthcare or family-related support which cannot easily be met from income or savings. It also includes certain other specific needs, for example moving into a care home.

If this sounds like you then please contact us to discuss your situation in more detail.

Are there any other eligibility criteria?

Eligibility for help depends on the circumstances of the individual, their particular need and the support they are requesting. For example, the income and savings of the person applying are usually taken into account.

The rules used for deciding if we can help are regularly reviewed and vary depending on the type of need.  If you would like more information on the rules relating to a particular need, please contact Freemasonry Cares
