  • Medical care: Surgical, ophthalmic, orthopaedic, cardiac, diagnostic, urological and hearing related treatment, where there is a long wait for NHS treatment.

  • Dental treatment: Where treatment on the NHS is unavailable or where costs are in excess of NHS charging rates.

  • Mobility aids and essential home adaptations: Stairlifts, electric wheelchairs, mobility scooters, recliner chairs, bathing chairs and grab bars and many other items.

  • Medication costs: Medication relating to the treatment of cancer and degenerative diseases.

  • Nursing, residential and dementia care: Homes providing care in a way that promotes independence and dignity.

  • Respite Care:  Funding is available towards the costs of short periods of residential care or to provide short breaks within the home.

If the healthcare support you require is not listed then please contact us to discuss your case in further detail - help may be available.

About healthcare support

Who can apply for a healthcare support?

All applicants for healthcare support must have a Masonic connection and have an identified healthcare need.

What are the eligibility criteria for healthcare support?

If you require certain types of healthcare support then the decision to help may depend on what income and savings you have.  The rules used to make a decision are different depending on the need and are reviewed on a regular basis.  It is not possible to provide full details on this website.  We would encourage anyone requiring help in one of the areas listed above to contact Freemasonry Cares on 0800 035 60 90 for a confidential discussion.  We will then be able to indicate if you are likely to qualify.

How to apply

Contact Freemasonry Cares on 0800 035 60 90 for a confidential discussion about your situation, including guidance on applying for support. Alternatively you can speak to your Lodge Almoner or the Provincial Grand Almoner.
